How can we help?
Answers to common questions about Balance Quest. If you can't find what you need, write to us.
Contact us
Email support@balancequestapp.com. We usually reply within two working days, in English, Spanish, Portuguese or French.
It helps to include your phone model, the app version (Settings, at the bottom) and, for billing questions, whether you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play. Please don't send medical records.
Practice safely. Stand next to a kitchen counter or a sturdy chair you can hold, on a clear floor. Stop if you feel dizzy, unwell or in pain. Balance Quest is a wellness app, not a medical device, and doesn't diagnose, treat or predict any condition or falls. If you fall often or feel dizzy day to day, talk to a doctor or physiotherapist before training. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Practice
How does the app measure my balance?
While you balance, the app reads your phone's motion sensors (or your watch's, in watch mode) and measures how much you sway. Less sway means a steadier stance. The readings are processed on your device; only a summary score is saved to your account.
Where should I hold the phone?
Hold it flat against your chest with both hands, or follow the position shown on the practice screen. Keep it in the same position each time so your scores are comparable. In watch mode you can keep the phone on the counter.
My score seems off. What can I do?
Make sure you're standing still before the countdown ends, keep the phone in the same position for the whole round, and avoid leaning on the counter. Scores compare you with your own starting point, not with other people, so a single unusual round won't change your level.
How does the app decide when I move up a level?
You move to the next exercise once you're steady at the current one over several sessions. If a level feels too hard, you can go back a step at any time.
I'm having a bad day. Will I lose my streak?
No. Tap "Bad day" on the Today screen for a shorter, easier session. It still counts toward your streak.
Can I follow my physiotherapist's exercises?
Yes. Add them under "Therapist's plan". You can export a progress report as a PDF and share it with your therapist from your phone. We never send the report anywhere unless you share it.
The animations make me uncomfortable.
Turn on "Calm motion" in Settings, or turn on Reduce Motion on your device. The app then uses gentle fades and keeps the character still apart from small reactions.
I'm not getting reminders.
Check that notifications are on for Balance Quest in your phone's settings, and that your practice days and time are set in the app. On Android, battery saver or "Do not disturb" can delay reminders.
Apple Watch and Wear OS
Which watches work with Balance Quest?
Apple Watch paired with an iPhone, and Wear OS watches (such as Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and newer and Google Pixel Watch) paired with an Android phone. Garmin, Huawei, Amazfit and Xiaomi bands aren't supported yet.
The watch app doesn't connect to my phone.
Open Balance Quest on your phone first, keep both devices close with Bluetooth on, and make sure both apps are up to date. If it still doesn't connect, restart the watch and the phone. Your subscription is checked on the phone, so for now the watch needs it nearby to start a session.
Subscriptions and billing
How do I cancel my subscription or trial?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, so you cancel them there. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Balance Quest, then Cancel Subscription. Or visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
- Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Balance Quest, then Cancel. Or visit play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the store you paid through:
- Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google Play: request a refund on Google Play
If you have trouble, email us and we'll help where we can.
I paid but the app still shows the paywall.
Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple or Google account you paid with, then tap "Restore purchases" on the paywall or in Settings. If that doesn't work, email us with the order number from your receipt.
Can my family share my subscription?
On iPhone, the subscription can be shared through Apple Family Sharing if it's turned on for your family. Google Play doesn't let apps share subscriptions with family members, so on Android each person needs their own subscription.
What can I do without a subscription?
You can always do a basic daily practice for free: the starting balance test, one daily session with sway measurement, bad-day sessions, your streak and reminders. A subscription unlocks the full exercise ladder, your therapist's plan and progress reports, the support circle, watch mode and your full progress history.
Your account and data
How do I move my progress to a new phone?
Sign in with the same Apple or Google account on your new phone. Your progress syncs automatically.
How do I download my data?
In the app, go to Settings, then Account, then Download my data.
How do I leave or manage my support circle?
Go to Support circle in the app. You can choose what you share, remove a member, or leave a circle at any time.
Delete your account
You can delete your Balance Quest account and all data linked to it at any time. Balance Quest is published by Juan Ortega, the developer shown on the App Store and Google Play.
In the app
- Open Balance Quest and go to Settings.
- Tap Account, then Delete account.
- Confirm. You are signed out and your data is deleted from our systems within 30 days.
Without the app
Email support@balancequestapp.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address linked to your account. If you used Sign in with Apple with a hidden email, include the account ID shown in the app under Settings, then Account, so we can be sure the account is yours. We'll confirm by email once it's done, within 30 days. If you never created an account, your onboarding data is deleted automatically after 90 days without use.
What gets deleted
- Your profile, onboarding answers, practice history, levels and streaks.
- Your therapist's plan and any reports stored in your account.
- Your support circle membership, and the cheers and voice notes you sent.
- Usage analytics linked to your account.
We keep only what the law requires, such as purchase records for tax purposes, which Apple, Google and RevenueCat hold for up to the periods required by law. Encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in the App Store or Google Play first (see above).
